Buisness and the Recession

How AIG was affected by U. S. recession: AIG is an insurance corporation that is multinational. They have headquarters in New York City, London, Paris, and Hong Kong. In the year 2000, the company held the title for the 29th largest company in the world. Things took a turn for the worse in this company when, in 2008, they suffered from a liquidity crisis and its credit ratings were downgraded below â€Å"AA† level. AIG had to take out a number of down loans and had to sell a number of its subsidiaries to pay them all off. Source: Johnson, Rodney. â€Å"Is AIG a Tipping Point in This Recession? S. recession: This Company was one of the few companies in business at this time of recession that was affected in a positive way. With more and more companies failing and people losing their jobs, this gives all Americans many more reasons to want to have higher education and provide their chi ldren with higher education. With the need for more education, comes all the extra costs, and with more and more people without jobs, there is a great increase in needing loans. That is exactly what this company’s strategy was and they took full advantage of the opportunity to give student loans to students across the country hoping for a successful future. S. recession: the Lehman brothers crisis first began when Britain’s biggest mortgage lender crashed 34 percent in early trading. Next, billions of dollars were wiped out when the FTSE fell below 4000 and it seemed to be all downhill from there.Within the next month following the Lehman Brothers crash, Bank of America took over Merrill Lynch and Mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac practically fell apart. Government action: In response to the economies recession the government took a number of actions. Programs were put in place called automatic stabilizers that would increase spending or cut taxes to whoever was impacted by the ecession, without new legislation. Actions were taken by the Federal Government in support of the housing and financial markets, increases in discretionary spending, and the passing of stimulus bills. Do you feel any of the companies played a role in creating the current recession or their own financial hardships?Do you feel they should have been more prepared to overcome financial hardships? Why or why not? I think for the most part, companies did the best they could to avoid recession, but when it comes to creating their own financial hardships, taking out multiple loans did not help any of the companies at all. I do agree that yes, they should have been more prepared to overcome the financial hardships and have more options instead of putting themselves further into debt. Should the government get involved in â€Å"bailing out† major U.S. corporations? Why or why not? If the government can be of any help that doesn’t push themselves or the company into further damage then I don’t believe there is any reason not to. Should companies be required to pay the government back? Yes absolutely. The governments money comes from us, the citizens and it is not fair that we would have to be paying off someone’s financial burdens without the government being paid back, because then we would be having to give more money when we may have financial burdens of our own.

I Saw that puppy he had killed and he was so panicy, trying to hide it from me, when I found it though he told me all his problems and he wasn’t so bad, we talked but all he seemed to care about as rabbits, he didn’t seem to pay attention to my troubles. But I guess he is dumb, All the men think I am trying to flirt. Sometimes I am talking to someone and they give me bad looks and tell me to go back to curley, as if he is my owner or something, and if they do not say that, instead curley beats me up, Lennie was telling me once that he likes to stroke things,†¦ and he also said that that’s how the puppy died and how all his pets die, and how he once had an aunt called clara who gave his special clothes for him to stroke. I think he is dumb or crippled in the head,. He told me that once he got in trouble with a girl in weed because he touched her dress and he was chased,

Bend It Like Beckham Essay

At at the end they realize that racist and close-minded individuals are everywhere and if you desire to be a star, you do not have to accept anybody’s negative opinions but alternately put in the effort yourselves. When moving to another country, culture impact is what shocks families the most. In this case, Mr. Bhamra does not get accepted into a sports team because the way he presents himself, dressing differently from the norm, and the coaches do that welcome that. Due to this past experience that took place when he first came to the country, he closes many doors to his daughter, Jess, by not letting her go to practices, being on his wife’s side and thinking that he is only doing that to protect her from getting rejected and influencing her to profound her Indian culture values. This turns out to be a very difficult situation for Jesminder to handle because without her father’s support, she might end up being a failure. People say that gender stratification is not a common treatment amongst individuals anymore. But in the film, Jess’ father prohibits her from playing soccer because he assumes that it is not a sport for females, and that she will end up obtaining rejection from coaches and friends, just like he did as a teenager. Also because his wife acquaints him with false information stating that Jesminder’s sexuality would change, which results frightening him and causes him to restrain her from the activity completely. Jess accepts this in a very harsh way but does not give up and continues to play soccer without her father’s permission. The modern society states that culture and gender inequality is not in common use anymore, but that does not mean people will stop applying these injustices to others. Throughout the film Mr. Ghamra forbids Jesminder to carry out her passion, which is playing soccer, because he does not agree that ladies should perform the sport and because is not an Indian –like culture task. At the end of the movie he realizes that he cannot guard her forever and that she needs to defend herself alone with courage if she is willing to take risky chances. He becomes aware that it is not the world’s duty to change others but the person’s own to face their challenges. The situation shown in the film proves how Mr. Ghamra and his family suffered from different cultural conflicts between each other and others surrounding them. Certain gender issues and inequalities ,as a result of culture misunderstandings, also affect them. Although Mr. Bhamra did not accept his daughter eagerness to play soccer he realized that letting her persuade her dreams was the best option for her future. Concluding that, according to the film, it does not matter what people say or influence you to do, anything is possible and if you do not risk given chances, others will take along with your dreams.

Hundred Years War Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1

Hundred Years War - Assignment Example Under their rule, they united England and a part of continent in the Northern France. In 12th century the possessions of English kings in France were significantly increased due to the marriage connections in Central and Western France. After a long and difficult struggle, the French monarchy managed to regain all these lands in the early 13th century. Together with the traditional possessions of French kings these lands formed the core of the modern France. However, there were left the territories between the Pyrenees and the Loire Valley under the English rule. In England these territories were called the Gascony (Duiker, and Spielvogel 378). The latter became one the main causes of the Hundred Years War. Further preservation of the English rule in the South Western part of France made the condition of the Capetian Dynasty insecure. It prevented the political centralization of the country. For England, instead, these possessions could serve a platform for an effort to restore the p revious vast ownership on the continent. Another object of sharp contradictions was Scotland. Its independence was threatened by England’s invasions. In search of political support in Europe, Scottish kings sought to alliance with France, the main opponents of the English crown (Allmand 9). With the worsening of Anglo-French conflict, both monarchies also tried to strengthen their positions in the Iberian Peninsula. Pyrenean countries were of the particular interest for English kings, because they bordered with the English Gascony. All these resulted in the military-political alliances: the Franco-Castilian, the Franco-Scottish, and the alliance between the British Crown and the towns of Flanders (Netherlands) (Allmand 23). The history of Hundred Years War is relatively divided into four stages, between which there were period of relatively long calm. The first stage began with the declaration

Free Trade during Colonialism vs. Free Trade during Globalization Essay

Free Trade during Colonialism vs. Free Trade during Globalization - Essay Example This paper analyses the major similarities and differences between free trade during colonialism and free trade during globalization. Free trade: Colonialism vs. globalization An unexpected transformation occurred in the aftermath of the economic downturn or depression which began in 1873 in Europe and North America. With barriers to trade rising, production standing still, and new competitors such as Germany and the United States industrializing, the search for new markets and sources of raw materials intensified in the direction of colonial expansion (Saul, n.d.). Colonial powers tried to safeguard their business interests during nineteenth and twentieth centuries rather than thinking too much about the rights of the nations under their control. The concept of free trade was another mechanism for them to exploit the resources of nations under their control. The current free trade which is the concept of globalization promotes neo-colonialism which is sharp in contrast with the prin ciples of free trade implemented by the colonial powers in the past. It should be noted that neo-colonialism is a practice of promoting capitalism, globalization and cultural co-operation between countries. In other words, current free trade has the ability to contribute heavily to the vast sectors of global population whereas the free trade during colonialism was confined within the boundaries of the nations under colonial rule. Current free trade helped â€Å"the globalization of a free market economy, the standardization and homogenization of production and the fixing of world prices in economies which are at unequal stages of economic and technological development† (In Opposition to Free Market Globalization and Neo Colonialism, We Say: No to APEC, 2004) Former Nobel Prize winner and renowned American economist Paul Krugman argued that free trade developed as a result of globalization has brought many opportunities to this world. In his opinion, â€Å"the view that free trade is the best of all possible policies is part of the general case for laissez-faire in a market economy and rests on the proposition that markets are efficient (Krugman, 1987, p.134). On the other hand, trade scenarios during colonialism were entirely different from the current trade scenario. Current market is extremely efficient and heavily competitive compared to the market in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Instead of conflict, co-operation seems to be the principle undertaken by the free trade of modern era. In other words, free trade of globalization is perceived as helpful to all countries irrespective of their socioeconomic conditions. On the other hand, free trade during colonialism suited only to the interests of the colonial powers. Theory of comparative advantage was promoted by free trade of globalization era whereas free trade policies during colonialism were revolved around the interests of the colonial powers. The theory of comparative advantage promotes the view that good of natural environment and industrial abilities of each country should be exported. It also cites that free market is another ideologically based intervention in ways that maintain the economic and political status quo (Gonzalez, 2006, p.65). Free trade evolved out of globalization, helps countries to sell their products in global markets where the

Abortion Ethical Issue Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Abortion Ethical Issue - Essay Example Abortion, to the pro-life supporter, is simply without a doubt, murder. Millions of people feel that it is unethical and immoral. When you watch TV and you see stories about children that have been beaten or killed by their parents, relatives, or even by a complete stranger. People become completely upset and outraged and want to know how something like this could happen? Thousands of people are crying for those poor innocent, defenseless, unborn children. But yet, when it comes to abortion everybody is quick to say that it’s not murder because the child is not born yet. Those who are against abortion would disagree, they believe that from the moment of conception the embryo or a fetus is full of life and then consider a living being. People don’t realize how these babies are being destroyed. For instead one form of abortion is to cut out the fetus into pieces with serrated forceps before being removed. Then piece by piece is removed by a vacuum aspirator. Another form of abortion is to bring the fetus feet first into the birth canal, only to puncture its skull and sucking out the brain tissue. Then the body parts are removed being labeled as letters instead of being called what they really are. Then the remains of the fetus into plastic bags and then thrown in a dumpster to be disposed of. Then, on the other hand, you have a pro-choice supporter. They believe that women have the right to do to their body whatever she sees fit. Obviously, people will never agree on the abortion issue. They will either be Pro-Life or they will be Pro-Choice. Whatever they decide it will always be hot issues to debate-lifers believe that each human being from the time of fertilization to natural death has immeasurable dignit y and an unalienable right to life. An embryo is distinctively human life so should be provided the equivalent respect, moral status, esteem and dignity given to an infant, child or adult.  Ã‚

Buyers Behavior and Analsis Literature review Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Buyers Behavior and Analsis - Literature review Example Several constructs initiate, maintain and prolong the consumer-product relationship. Consumer Brand Relations The relationship between consumers and brands is one of the most influential forces in marketing. This explains the vast literature on the importance, concepts and nature of the consumer brand relationship. This review of literature explains the conceptualization and significance of consumer brand relationship, as envisioned by different authors. According to Patterson and O’Malley (2006), the relationship that exists between brands and consumers emanates from the acceptance of various ideals that brands posses and that are beneficial to the consumers. The concept of consumer relationship with particular brands emanates from the intrinsic satisfaction that consumers’ gain and the fulfillment of self. There is a notable increase in literature on brand-consumer relationship over the past decade as noted by Patterson and O’Malley (2006, p.10). The high numbe r of publications on brand-consumer relationship reiterates the considerable importance of the concept of relationship in branding. In the view of Patterson and O’Malley (2006, p.10), the concept of consumer behavior can well be understood through the exploration of brand consumer relations. Brand management is among the main considerations in promoting relationship marketing that depends on stable consumer relationships. Patterson and O’Malley (2006, p.12) explains the concept of brand relationship to surpass the mere identification of a brand with a producing company but the attachment of trusts, by consumers, to a brand. Regarding the relationship, the role of brand personality is invaluable in developing the trust that consumers have towards a brand. The existence of the relationship is a factor that is dependent on the extent of the growth of the brand, itself, and the increasing level of attractiveness associated with the brand. The concept of the relationship is that it develops overtime through improvement in features that brands bear and their appeal to consumers. There are diverse types and levels of the relationship between brands and consumers, as Patterson and O’Malley (2006, p.12) outlines. They explain the explicit interrelatedness between interpersonal relations and the concept of relationship between brands and loyalty of consumers. Such relations include the characters as love and passion that individuals attach to interpersonal relations and brand loyalty. The expression of self-connection with a brand and the extent of its initiation of satisfaction constitute one of the determinants of strong consumer brand relations, according to Patterson and O’Malley (2006, p.13). Interdependence that consumers perceive to gain from a brand is among the major determinants of strong brand consumer relations. Patterson and O’Malley (2006, p.13) identify intimacy as one of the greatest constructs related to strong consume r brand relations. This refers to the extent of knowledge that consumers have on the functionality of a brand. Another construct of a strong relationship between consumers and brands is the brand partner quality that entails the attribute that consumers attribute to their preferred brands. Brand personality is

Marketing Plan Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words - 4

Marketing Plan - Assignment Example With a drug that is slow releasing and with a longer half-life, it is possible to improve the efficiency of therapy and increase patient’s confidence since they will not be required to take daily doses. The product will be provided by a new company (imagined for the purpose of the assignment). This will allow for flexibility in coming up with new ideas related to business and marketing strategy. An existing company may pose unexpected strategic barriers to the plan. The target audience for pharmaceutical companies is the drug chemists and pharmacists as well as other players in the health sector. These are the ones directly in contact with the target customer and will, therefore, link the product to the consumers. Similar products are available in the market. The REHZ drug is available as a combination of all the four main drugs used in pulmonary TB. The drug makes it more convenient for patients to take a single tablet as opposed to several tablets daily. Even with the existing similar product in the market, the new idea has a distinctive competitive advantage over the rest. This is because the REHZ is still taken daily, a factor which still does not improve on the efficiency. The new drug will not be required daily because of the slow, extended-release

The emotion of being prone to the harsh and abrupt reality that I really had to work extremely hard this semester. Uncomfortable at first, I slowly caught on to the quick but the well-organized pace my teacher had set for us. Even though there was an incredible amount of work this time, I reflect back now with a smile. I feel confident now that I could write a victorious essay. I possibly have learned nearly all about writing in present this one semester, then my whole academic profession. Dickens novels Essay Example for Free

Dickens novels Essay Hard Times was one of Dickens’ novels that focuses mainly on the education system and industrialisation. Dickens was furious about the changes in industrialisation throughout the Victorian period and this motivated him enormously to write the novel. Industrialisation meant that working conditions were poor and it had a massive impact on the way schools were run. Dickens hated Victorian schools; he saw the Victorian education system as boring and monotonous and often wrote essays to show his anger and frustration at the government and those responsible for what he saw as the poor schooling techniques. Dickens creates Coketown in this novel and it is used as a representation of the government at that time and is seen as a perfect world for the fact obsessed characters but the novel explores how this way of living is not healthy. Dickens suggests that facts have become a way of life, like a religion, which was very unacceptable for that time because in the Victorian period people were especially religious and that facts were taking over a religion would have been seen as disgusting  Dickens suggests that English towns around the industrialized era are ugly, polluted and debilitated, he suggests this because facts, repetition and the lack of individuality was taking over, one of the ways he achieves this is through his description of coketown. ‘Coketown’ suggests a very scary, dull and boring place, Dickens would have intended us to have this perception because this is how he saw the government’s way of teaching and he wanted us to perceive it in the same way that he did. He also wanted us to see through his description how monotonous and unhealthy the town and way of life in that area had become. Dickens describes the school in this novel as bland, containing no creativeness, or embellishment, a framework built purely on facts and reality alone. The rooms consist of white-washed walls, stripped and bare revealing the actuality industry at the time. Dickens describes the rooms as ‘plain, bare monotonous vault of a school-room’. The word ‘vault’ suggests the school-room takes the image of a jail cell; bare, isolated, barred windows. Therefore this also suggests the pupils attending the school represent prisoners- influenced by the oppressive rules and watchful eye of Gradgrind. Their order is even arranged like prisoners, in a regular pattern, rows spaced evenly, closely monitored and not allowed to move. The rooms consist of white-washed walls, stript and bare revealing the actuality industry at the time. Dickens describes the rooms as ‘plain, bare monotonous vault of a school One of the main statements Dickens is trying to make throughout this novel is the obsession and repetitiveness of facts. The word fact is repeated so much that it feels like its being shoved into the children’s heads. We hope to have, before long, a board of fact, composed of commissioners of fact, who will force the people to be a people of fact and nothing but fact. This firstly shows that it is not just Gradgrind that is obsessed with facts, it is the whole school; implying the whole education system is like this. Also they wish for the facts to be forced upon all people as they are doing in the school. Dickens put Gradgrind across as forceful, having high standards, obsessed and full of facts and wishing every one of his pupils to be as smart as he is. Mr MChoakumchild is portrayed very similarly to Gradgrind, this gives the impression that all teachers of this time were like this. A character who is a representation for Dickens views is Gradgrind. He is used as a representation because he is made to be everything Dickens is against where education is concerned. ‘Forming the minds of reasoning animals’, Gradgrind is referring to the children as animals for testing out his way of education, he does not see them as human he sees them as animals that he needs to train to be just like him. However there are characters in the novel that challenge his way of teaching and try to be individual but Gradgrind sees this as wrong and tries to stop them and get them back in line. actuality industry at the time. Dickens describes the rooms as ‘plain, bare monotonous vault of a school-room’. The word ‘vault’ suggests the school-room takes the image of a jail cell; bare, isolated, barred windows. Their order is even arranged like prisoners, in a regular pattern, rows spaced evenly, closely monitored and not allowed to move. One character who shows a contrast to the Victorian education system is Sissy Jupe. She is polite and full of life, she curtsy’s to address to Gradgrind and this shows how cheerful and polite she is. You can tell sissy loves and respects her father a lot from when she says ‘it’s father calls me Sissy sir’. Gradgrind tries to intimidate Sissy and because she is such a shy character Gradgrind easily embarrasses her with his intimidation ‘she would have blushed deeper, is she could have blushed deeper’ This shows the healthy colour in her face which represents how full of life she is and the fact she could have blushed deeper and deeper shows that she has so many different ideas and wonderful individuality that they just want to burst out of her as she is being made to keep them locked inside her.

Challenges of Raising a Disabled Child Essay Example for Free

Challenges of Raising a Disabled Child Essay Caring for a child with a disability can be challenging due to parenting responsibilities and the difficulties they encounter when interacting with an often unreceptive environment. Consequently, parents can be at increased risk for excessive levels of personal distress which in turn can adversely affect the well being of the child and the entire family unit (Plant Sanders, 2007). Parents of children with disabilities can be at an increased risk for psychosocial distress (Parish, Rose, Grinstein-Weiss, Richman Andrews, 2008; Plant Sanders, 2007). The parenting responsibilities for parents of children with disabilities often require a significant amount of time to complete, can be physically demanding, can disrupt family and social relationships, and can adversely affect caregiver employment (Brannen Heflinger, 2006; Seller Heller, 1997). Perhaps as a consequence of these additional impacts, family caregivers of children with disabilities can be at increased risk to experience depression, physical health problems, and decreased quality of life (Feldman, et al. , 2007; Ones, Yilmaz, Cetinkaya, Calgar, 2002). The added challenges of caring for a child with a disability may lead to more stress and greater physical and emotional health risks for parents and their families (e. g. , increased conflict with spouse; Murphy, Christian, Caplin Young, 2006) compared to families without a child with a disability (Feldman et al. , 2007). This topic is particularly personal for me because I know first hand the psychological affects and challenges that a handicap child could have on parents, family members, and friends. My son was two months when I notice that something just wasn’t right with him. I noticed him favoring one side instead of looking straight ahead. I mentioned my concerns to our family doctor. His doctor didn’t see it as a problem. She said to just continue to watch him. Two months passed and still no change, so at his next appointment I expressed my concern again. I insisted that she run tests on my son immediately. I knew something seemed different; I just couldn’t put my finger on it. I had already had two other boys so something just didn’t sit right with me. The doctor sent my son to be tested at University of Maryland Hospital and my son was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus Dandywalker Malformation with Palsy. He had to have surgery at six months to have a shunt placement to drain the water from his brain. I was devastated. My husband and I went through several defense mechanisms. The first I believe was denial. We didn’t want to face the fact that something was wrong with our child, our baby. He seemed so perfect when he was born just a few months ago. We went through repression, rationalization and intellectualization. We couldn’t wrap our minds around the fact that our child would be different from other children. Nobody wants to believe that something is wrong with their child. I felt a little embarrassed for fear of what people might think about our child or what someone would say. So many things raced around my mind. We wanted to blame the doctors; maybe they did something wrong in my prenatal care. I went over in my mind again and again of every little thing I did when pregnant to ensure that I had did everything I was supposed to do. I didn’t drink, smoke or do drugs. What happened? We tried to search our family history genetics. We just came up empty. My husband and I became depressed, frustrated, and angry. I felt helpless about my son’s condition. I wasn’t sure what to do. Finally, I began to investigate my son’s condition. I read all I could get my hands on. I searched for schools and other medical resources to help me address my son’s needs. In the back of my mind I was still trying to make sense of the fact that my son had a developmental and neurological problem that would affect him for the rest of his life. I wondered what restrictions we would face now and in the future. I still wasn’t sure if I could cope with his lack of development neurologically, physically, mentally or emotionally. I began to question God. I wondered why me. I wasn’t sure if I would have to stop working. I wondered how we as a family would work together to stay a family. I had so many questions, but no answers. I prayed asking God for help and guidance. Later, I began to realize that I had to be strong. I had to accept what the reality was with my son and his disability. It hasn’t been easy. We faced many financial problems, medical issues, several hospitalizations for my son, divorce; daycare issues especially since my son needed twenty four hour daycare. Day care is very expensive as well as diapers and wipes for disabled children. Insurance covers some things but not enough. A person has to be making next to nothing in order to get any assistance from the government; we needed assistance regardless of what we made monetary. I would have never known what disabled families went through to get their voice heard and children’s needs assisted unless I had to face these great challenges myself. So much goes into raising a child with disabilities. There are many variables that factor into taking care of a disabled child. Financial hardships are another important factor that influences parents’ wellbeing. In general families with children with disabilities experience much higher expenditures than other families (Newacheck and Kim, 2005) found that, on average, the total annual health care expenditures for children with disabilities were more than three times as much compared to children without disabilities. The financial strain incurred by families of children with disabilities is likely due to increased expenses related to the child’s needs as well as loss of employment or inability to work because of parenting responsibilities (Murphy et al. , 2006; Parish et al. 2008; Worcester et al. , 2008). Inability to engage in employment can also lead to feelings of isolation, a lack of fulfillment and low self-esteem (Shearn Todd, 2000). Families of children with disabilities often report feeling isolated from the community (Freedman Boyer, 2000; Worcester et al. , 2008). What I’ve learned from researching the challenges of raising a child with disabilities; as well as being a parent of a disabled child is that there is still so much more to be done. There is still research that hasn’t been touched regarding parents and their disable children. We the parents have to be the voices for our disable children. We have to be better informed about what our disabled children rights are. We have to be willing and ready to fight on behalf of our disable children. Parents and state officials have to work to get better laws passed to accommodate disabled children. Disabled children need better health care programs, better schools; a place for them to be themselves. Parents need a place to relax and not have to worry about dirty looks that people who don’t have disabled children give them. Parents shouldn’t have to feel ashamed that they have disabled children. We shouldn’t be looked down upon because our children are different. Our children shouldn’t be bullied or treated like they are worthless. Our children are special. They deserve the best that we can help them to achieve in life. They deserve a chance like the rest of us. We’ve got to come together and help each other to provide a better life for all! The questions we should ask researchers to study are many. One could be what’s being done to assist parents with disabled children? Are there programs to assist parents in child care for disabled children? Normal daycare centers are for infants through 12 years of age. As of today my disabled son is 16 years old and there’s really no day care for children his age. Another question is why do they go according to parents’ income in order to assist with social security disability? A parent shouldn’t have to be jobless in order to obtain assistance from social security disability. Yet a person who walks into social security disability and say my back hurt or that they have a condition can obtain money; work the system while the truly disabled suffer. There are so many people working the disability system and really aren’t disabled. We have to help the programs we have for our disabled children actually help the disabled children. In conclusion caring for a child with a disability can be challenging, but many of these challenges are likely due to a lack of necessary environmental supports. Future research should expand on these findings and policy makers, scientists and providers should give particular attention to the environmental support needs of parents in order to create policies and interventions that are more family centered.

The Lamb and the Tyger Analysis

The Lamb and the Tyger Analysis William Blake was an 18th century visionary, poet, mystic, and artist. Blakes romantic style of writing allowed him to create contrasting views as those in The Lamb and The Tyger. From a young age Blake used his imagination that was frowned upon and unfortunately was never greatly appreciated during his lifetime. William Blake believed that it was the chief function of art to reveal the truth of the spiritual world by liberating imagination (Bowman 53). It wasnt until after Blakes death that his work finally received some attention. Known as a romantic, Blake continued throughout his writing to radically question religion and politics; He was very critical of the church, putting forth the effort to attack and question it. Blake put his own insight into his poems to raise the public awareness in a personal attempt to seek the truth. Perhaps he is most famous for his creative and simplistic Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience that influenced the other Romantic poets with themes of good and evil, heaven and hell, and knowledge and innocence. With regards to religion, William Blake opposed the views of the Christian church and its standardized system. Blake, having more of a spiritual position than a religious one, considered himself as a monistic Gnostic, meaning that he believed what saved a persons soul was not faith but knowledge (Harris 1). Blakes view of religion was considered blasphemous, and in his works he was concerned with the character of individual faith than with the institution of the Church, its role in politics, and its effects on society and the individual mind (SparkNotes Editors 1). Blakes The Lamb and The Tyger is more suggestive to the nature of God. The idea is that the same God who made the lamb also made the tiger, so unless it is suggested that God created evil, then the tiger must not be evil. The fact that the same God created both the lamb and tiger suggest that they just represent two different sides of God: Two different aspects of existence. Blakes perception of good and evil isnt just one extreme to the other, instead, the ambiguity of evil isnt evil; it is just the other side of good. Blake technically didnt believe in a dichotomy, the division into two usually contradictory parts or opinions. Blake portrays his argument that a human being cannot be completely good or completely evil. This trait does not exist within human beings, and therefore does not exist in God. The other writers and minds of the 18th century were mainly deists, the belief based solely on reason. They did not show interest in the nature of God as Blake did, instead, reason was their god. In the poem The Lamb, William Blake incorporates his unique style through the use of religious symbolism, creative lines, and simple patterns. The Lamb was a part of a series of poems called the Songs of Innocence that was published in 1789. Poems that were more simplistic in style and nature became more contrition and prophetic in Songs of Experience. Through simplistic structure, he chose the narrator of a child, as in this poem, told through childlike eyes, speaking of the innocence in all of human life, and that the lamb is Christ, marveling over Gods creations. The dramatic perspectives and continual allusiveness of the lyrics in The Lamb have shown to be a key factor in Blakes writing and have been interpreted and reinterpreted by critics and readers ever since Blakes death. Blake utilizes his rhetoric genius by symbolically expressing the appearance of the lamb to that of the nature of God. Within the poem, Blake brings up an interesting concept by stating, He is called by thy name / For he calls himself a Lamb, the lamb not only suggest innocence and the meaning of life, but at the same time conveys the theme that Christ is the lamb (Blake 662). The poem comments on how he is meek and he is mild, thus giving God the characteristics of goodness and purity (Blake 662). This gives a varying contrast to Blakes poem The Tyger as it advocates the speculation of evil. William Blakes, The Tyger, is the poetic counterpart to the Lamb of Innocence from his previous work, Songs of Innocence, thus creating the expression of innocence versus experience What immortal hand or eye / Dare frame thy fearful symmetry (Blake 770). The Tyger is part of the continued series of lyrics titled Songs of Experience that was published in 1794, as a response to the Songs of Innocence. The Songs of Experience are interpreted as the child, conveyed in Songs of Innocence, matures to adulthood and is molded by the harsh experiences and negative forces that reality has on human life, thus shows the destructiveness of the tiger. Blake utilizes his deceptively complex ideas, symbolism, and his allusiveness to portray the essence of evil in The Tyger. Blake uses tyger instead of tiger because it refers to any kind of wild, ferocious cat. The symbolism of the hammer, chain, furnace, and anvil all portray the image of the blacksmith, one of the main central themes in this poem ( Blake 769). William Blake personifies the blacksmith to God, the creator, and Blake himself. The Tyger is about having your reason overwhelmed at once by the beauty and horror of the natural world (Friedlander 1). When the stars threw down their spears / And waterd heaven with their tears (Blake 770). For Blake, the stars represent cold reason and objective science (Friedlander 1). In retrospect, the creation of the tiger represents transcendent mystery and direct reference to the lamb Did he who made the Lamb make thee (Blake 770). The Lamb and the Tyger are polar opposites of each other, one representing the fear of God and the other representing faith or praise of God through nature. As a child one is more like the lamb, innocent and more pure, and as they mature they earn their stripes and become aged and mature by societal tendencies of life like the tiger. The irony in the Songs of Innocence in contrast with the Songs of Experience is that they are opposites but seem to bounce off one another. They both have the same creator, both God and Blake, and suggest morals of good and evil. They are each on the extreme ends of the spirituality spectrum and in the middle is humanity, but you cant have one without the other. In order to have good you have to balance it out with evil, in a sense where good isnt just good, it is the other side of evil, and where evil is the other side of good.

The V-Chip Controversy :: essays research papers

Young children watch 8,000 murders and 100,000 acts of violence before leaving elementary school. The V-Chip Controversy Thousands were infuriated†¦ lawyers and the TV Networks called it unlawful as it violates the First Amendment, parents were happy to have the help, and kids were angry because they could no longer see some of their favorite shows. The fight of the century had begun between the television industry and the government over the issue of television violence. In 1991 when Tim Collings first thought of the idea for an optional device that blocked violent television programs, he never could have imagined the controversy that would erupt. Democratic Congressman Ed Markey from Massachusetts came up with the idea that the V-Chip should become a required feature of the television. The Telecommunications Act of 1996 was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Clinton. The law required that all televisions by the year 2000 would be required to include the V-Chip. The networks were told that they must voluntarily come up with a rating system for all television programs by 1997 or the government would establish one for them. The television industry claims that the chip will violate their First Amendment right and cause them to lose valuable commercial dollars. The First Amendment gives everyone the right to freedom of speech. Broadcasters believe some shows will be forced off the air because they are seem too violent. The networks do not think that anyone should tell them what is too violent. Networks feel that people do not have to watch shows they feel are too violent. By forcing the networks to create a rating system for TV programs with violent content or objectionable material, the networks will no longer have the right to freedom of speech. The networks are also afraid that they will lose millions of dollars because the people that make the commercials will be afraid to buy commercial space on the television for programs that are considered to be "objectionable". Some lawyers, like those from the American Civil Liberties Union, are opposed to the V-Chip law. In short, the ACLU claims that: The chip violates the First Amendment and is a form of censorship. The V-Chip takes away from the real causes of crime and violence today; poverty, poor education, not enough jobs, and abuse. Many parents are happy to have the V-Chip because it will help them to have control over what their children are watching when they are not able to be at home.

Young Males, Modern Society, and Drug Use Essay -- Essays Papers

Young Males, Modern Society, and Drug Use To understand the use of drugs by young men and to review the literature in a coherent framework it is necessary to begin with an understanding of the term 'gender'. Gender is said to mean more than just male or female. Rather it is a description of the traits and attributes which society ascribes to each sex. Gender is distinguished from sex in that sex refers to biology, whereas gender refers to the cultural meanings and social constructs that are superimposed on the biological differences between the sexes. That is, gender is socially constructed. It transforms female to mean 'feminine' and male to mean 'masculine', and by so doing it defines our expectations of both male and female behavior in everyday life. Most research up until the 1980s was based on male perceptions and male constructs of drug use, which by its very nature, neglected female drug use (Davey, 1994; Sargent, 1992; Temple-Smith & Hamilton, 1991). Some studies ignored women entirely; others included women but ignored gender, simply combining men and women in the analysis. Authors of many studies thus generalized from male subjects to 'people'. As Henderson (1993) says "It is a familiar sentiment by now that the literature on drugs is limited when it comes to the subject of gender and drug use. All too often studies have ignored gender as a factor in drug use and extrapolated from the male experience." (p. 127). It is important, therefore, to acknowledge that historically, gender has been a 'blindspot' in much of the research on drug use and abuse (Lammers & Schippers, 1991). The influence of male gender has not been considered, despite the fact that males have mostly been the subjects of the studies. As Broom (... ..., S. (1997). The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement by Eliyahu M. Goldratt :: essays research papers

The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement by Eliyahu M. Goldratt The heart of this story is based around the life of Alex Rogo, Plant Manager for Uniware a division of Unico. After a very upset customer approaches Alex’s boss, Bill Peach, he is given an ultimatum to turn the plant around in three months. Due to the limited amount of time available, there are not many outside tools available such as consultants, surveys, etc. With very few hopes, Alex foresees the inevitable until he remembers his conversation with Jonah, a physicist Alex knew from a previous job. The Goal: It is not until Alex’s job is in jeopardy that he decides to devour into his conversation with Jonah. During the conversation, Jonah asks him several questions to analyze his company’s situation. The conversation leads ultimately to the question, "What is the goal of any business?" After rethinking his conversation, Alex realizes that the goal of any business is to make money. Furthermore, if the goal is to make money any action toward this goal is consider productive and any action not moving towards the goal is nonproductive. Alex unsure of such a simple answer decides to contact Jonah to continue the search for more answers. Measurements: Once Alex contacts Jonah they define the following measurements to define the success of any plant’s production: 1. Throughout = rate that the system is used to generate money through sales. This measurement would consist of what a product would be worth when sold at market value after deducting operational expense and inventory. 2. Inventory = all the money invested in purchasing items that will be sold. This could include the remains of their machines after being used toward the investment. 3. Operational expense = all the money used to turn inventory into throughput. This would include such items as depreciation of a machine, lubricating oil, scraps, etc. Balancing a Production Line: Jonah explains to Alex that a plant that is continuously productive in considered inefficient. He further explains that continuous production will result in high absenteeism, poor quality and employee turnover. Based on this, he would need to reduce operational expense and inventory to improve throughput to demonstrate a balanced line of production. Jonah leaves him to ponder the understanding of two things: what are the dependent events and statistical fluctuations in his plant. Bottlenecks During a hiking trip with Alex’s son, he produces a game for a few of the kids to demonstrate an ideal balance line of production. He does this by setting up dependents and uses a die to measure the statistical fluctuations. At the end of the game, he concluded that the bottleneck’s speed of production is what

The Strength in Challenges

The Strength in Challenges My ability to overcome difficulties throughout my life is by far my greatest strength. I have gone through more hardships than the average teen. Each time has forced me to look inside myself, and find the strength to rise up again. I’ve never resented anything that has come my way because each hardship has placed a brick on what is the base of my character today. Back in fifth grade my house had caught fire. It was one of the scariest things in my life.As a fifth grader, dolls and going outside to play soccer were the things I held most sacred. This one event changed my entire outlook on life and showed me what was truly important in my life: my family. When I moved into a hotel for months it made me realize, trivial things like clothes and toys aren’t what makes a home your home it’s the people that are with you through it all. Also, the enormous support we got from the community helped me understand the true meaning of giving. Althoug h this happened to me at a young age, the lessons still ring true today.I never wanted anyone to feel like they were alone and helpless, so every time an opportunity presents itself I feel the need to help. Whenever faced with a difficult decision or see someone in need I look back on this and it reminds me to place myself in their shoes and do whatever I can to help. Being pelted with a ball and getting the wind knocked out of you could be compared to the feeling I got when my mom told me she had terminal cancer. I knew the air was touching my lips, but I couldn’t suck it in.The pain in my chest was so great I had to crouch. Drops from my eyes pooled on the ground and my ears only heard buzzing rather than words. After a while the tears stopped, and I was left in my mom’s arms trying to process all of it. It’s been a year and I am still processing all of it. Each day I wake up not knowing how long my mom has left, and yet each day my mom wakes up fighting for a nother day which keeps me going. I’ve never had an obstacle as great as this, but it doesn’t stop me from reaching for my dreams.I am part of the first generation in my family to attend a four-year college, and my mom inspires me everyday. Although things may seem almost impossible, if you work hard enough and put forth your best effort, impossible is possible. Throughout my life I’ve been presented with many challenges; however, I never let them control my destiny. I now embrace each one as it comes because I’ve found that the harder I’ve worked to overcome something, it has always left me a better person than before. And with each new challenge, I become better at conquering the next.

Peoples working in countries approximative to these landfill countries or countries where elec tronic waste is stored are in danger of terrible wellness jobs like harm to the kidneys, swelling of the encephalon, intervention with restrictive endocrines, tegument jobs, malignant neoplastic disease and neurological and respiratory upsets.Indian Laws associating to Disposal of Hazardous WasteIn India, the Environment Protection Act, 1986, authorizes the cardinal administration to take all step deemed necessary or expedient to protect the quality of environment and forestall any type of pollution. Hence, the Government of India has framed the Hazardous Waste ( centering and Handling ) Rules, 1989 and Hazardous Waste ( computer memory Export and Import ) Rules, 1989 to modulate the disposal of crazy waste in India. 7 These regulations make it required for any brass section to seek the permission of the local province pollution keep back board for subsidisation of mandate for transporting risky substances in the mannequin of aggregation, response, intervention, conveyanc e, storage and disposal of such wastes. In recent opinion of Rajasthan High motor hotel in the Suo Motu action interpreted against the disposal of Jaipur metropolis, Justice D. Singh held that right to life includes the right to nutrient, vesture, shelter, right to sensible adjustment to consist in, right to descent environment and besides right to populate in alter metropolis. Even in the instance of municipal Council, Ratlam V. Vardichand 8 , the instance which was the get drink down point of environment law in India in which justness Krishna Iyer attributed the pollution impec give the gatet environment and public wellness with that of serviceman right facet. Judgment and determinations of the bench have proved that pollution free environment and well-defined metropolis is facet of honest to life. The Basel ConventionWhich was signed by India on 22 September, 1992, sought to modulate the deflect imperialism or toxic terrorist act , as it was called, indulged in by t he Organisation for the sparing Cooperation and Development ( OECD ) states towards Non-OECD Countries. The Basel Convention envisaged that in the set out of twelvemonth 1998, there will be complete prohibition on exports of risky waste but it could non happen for intelligible grounds. Besides so many of instant clauses in the Basel Convention, the most of event one is that the state which is importing risky waste should hold installations to dispose of the waste in an environmentally sound mode.Concluding Legal Take Away TipThe authorities of India has proposed a juvenile set of regulations called the E-waste ( precaution and Handling ) Rules 2010. This provides for doing the manufacturer of galvanic and electronic equipment responsible for the aggregation and appropriate disposal of e-waste generated at the terminal of the merchandise life. 9 Besides censoring the import of used electrical and electronic equipment for charity in the state, these rising regulations besides aim to modulate non merely the manufacturers, but besides the recyclers and mediators.2.5 A Law Associating to Bio-Medical Waste troubleThe hospital wastes attracted the tending of the commanding Court every bit early as in 1994 when a writ request was filed under Article 32 of the Constitution against the concerned governments to try clean and wellness environment. Issue of improper infirmary waste direction was the Confederate Cross of the instance in B.L. Wadhera v. marriage of India 10 The tribunal gave series of waies. The most of import among them are1. All infirmaries with 50 beds and above should put in incinerators or any of effectual alternate method under their ain administrative control.2. The incinerator or alternate methods should be fitted with necessary pollution control tool, approved and corroborating to the criterions laid down by the Central Pollution control Board.3. The Central Pollution control Board and the State Pollution Control Boards should syst em direct its review squads in distinguishable countries to determine that the aggregation, transit and disposal garbage/wastes is carried out satisfactorily. Under the Indian punishable Code, 1860 a defiler of the environment can besides be punished if he does an act which causes any common hurt, danger of irritation to the populace or to the people in general so the act may be treated every bit public as delimit under part 268 and the wrongdoer may be treated punished under Section 290 or 291 of the Code, There are besides penal proviso under a state of affairs which either causes, or destroys, or diminishes the value or public-service corporation of any belongings, of affects the belongings injuriously as provided under the Section 426, 230, 231, and 432 of the Indian punishable Code. This otherwise means that if any individual who generates, collects, receives, shops, conveyance, treated, disposes or handles bio-medical wastes in any signifier shall be treated as a contraven er of the above penal commissariats. 11 There should be concerted attempts of authorities for distributing the consciousness among the people about the richness of cleanliness and protection of environment through the communicating media every bit good as forming consciousness cantonments at local degrees. 12 Bio Medical ( guidance and Handling ) Rules, 1998The Bio-medical Rules came into creation in 1998 through a manifestation in exercising of the powers conferred by Sections 6, 8 and 25 of the Environment ( Protection ) Act, 1986.Bio-medical Rules is the first of its sort of national jurisprudence in whole South- East Asiatic neighbourhood in coition to bio-medical waste direction. The definition of Bio-medical waste is really comprehensive and broad 1.National statute law is the footing for bettering wellness attention waste patterns in any state. There should be a clear appellation of duties before the jurisprudence is enacted. Unfortunately, Indian jurisprudence fails t o come up to the criterion prescribed by the creative activity Health Organization. The Committee on warm Management 13 recommends that bio-medical waste should be refrained from throwing on the streets or unfastened topographic points every bit good as into municipal dust bins or the domestic waste aggregation sites. This means bulk of the establishments still managed to throw the bio-medical waste municipal bins near to their premises. So it can be verbalise that arrant failure of the jurisprudence in implementing it.The Rules is really broad and includes the resident who generates bio-medical waste. The Rules which intercommunicate about puting up of incinerator or any other alternate mechanism in a infirmary. Let us as midpointe that the all the infirmaries have set up the incinerator. Has the Pollution Control Board render with adequate substructures to look into and each and every incinerator of a infirmary in relation its operation and emanation criterions? 14 but by enfo rcing deadline sing puting up of incinerator fifty-fifty after it has been discarded by westerly states or any other methods. The incinerator should be used at it optimal insipid otherwise the waste may non be treated decently. In a infirmary environment, engineerings like incineration fail because untrained janitor mental faculty runs them. Most of the studies incinerators run at temperatures lower than those specified in the regulations. Due to miserable operation and care, these incinerators do non destruct the waste, pick out a batch of fuel to run, and are frequently out of order. If every infirmary has an incinerator decidedly it can non be used its optimal degree as the sum infective waste is less. This leads improper intervention of bio-medical waste. The consequence is obvious doing danger to human wellness and the environmentBy and large waste is disposed through incineration by heating minimal 1000 O C. Due to failure of continue supply of electricity the heat will n on fig out up to order degree. The consequence is non expiration of disposal of waste harmonizing to the regulations.2.6 The municipal square(p) Wastes ( Management and Handling ) Rules, 2000This defined municipal solid waste as commercial message and residential wastes generated in a municipal or notified countries in either solid or semi-solid signifier excepting industrial risky wastes but includes treated bio-medical wastes. Harmonizing to Purden & A Anderson, slump and solid waste are about the same thing, Garbage is nutrient waste, toss out and Rubbish are approximately equal footings they contain small or no refuse. Trash often refers to grass and shrubbery cuttings, documents, glass, tins and other family wastes. 15 Rubbis is besides likely to include destruction stuffs like brick, broken concrete, and discarded roofing and timber. It has farther been clarified that solid waste includes discarded and abandoned contraptions fit combat vehicle car, mine and sedulo usness waste, agricultural, lumbering, infirmary, research research labs and industries. Some industrial wastes are toxic or risky. It is of import to determine the nature of waste whether it is biodegradable or combustible in managing and disposal of solid waste. Combustion and landfill method of disposal farther gives rise to jobs like air, H2O and land pollution, impacting adversely the wellness of the adult male, and vegetations and zoologies. Apart from family, office waste, the waste from industries deep down the metropolis precincts have become a baleful job now-a-days. Waste from industries utilizing chemicals and synthetics, biomedical waste are risky or dangerous waste excessively. The Indian Penal Code and cheering Waste ManagementThe Indian Penal Code of 1860 has dealt with solid waste direction under Chapter xiv of offenses impacting the public wellness, safety, convenience, decency and ethical motives . Since, solid waste gives rise to assorted type of diseases and is unsafe to public wellness, it has been treated as public nuisance and has been made punishable. But there is no direct subdivision in the Code which deals with the job of solid waste.Commissariats under the fell Procedure Code, 1973Section 133 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 trades with removal of nuisance and empowers the Sub-Divisional Magistrate or any executive Magistrate, on having circulate/information, to do order to take the public nuisance and desist from transporting any trade, concern which is doing public nuisance. The Court have made physical exercise of Section 133 of the Code astray to cover with the job of solid waste direction. In the celebrated instance of municipal Corporation, Ratlam v. Shri Vardhichand 16 Justice Krishna Iyer say that athe guns of Section 133 spell into action wherever there is public nuisance. The public power of the Magistrate under the Code is a public responsibility to the members of the populace who are victims of the nuisanc e. If the order is defied or ignored, Section 188, I.P.C. comes into penal drama. It was further, observed that autocratic tone of S.A 133, Cr.P.C. read with the punitory biliousness of S.A 188 I.P.C. makes the prohibitive act a compulsory responsibility. The Court besides pointed out that Article 47 of the Indian Constitute makes it a overriding rule of administration that steps are taken for the betterment of public wellness as amongst its primary responsibilities. sound to sanitation, decent and dignified lifeThe tribunals on assorted occasions have declared in univocal footings that care of wellness, prudence of sanitation angle of dips within the survey of Article 21 of the Constitution as it adversely affects the life of the citizen and it amounts to decelerate toxic condition and cut downing the life of the citizen because of the jeopardies created, if non checked. The tribunal have besides declared that it is a primary, compulsory and obligatory responsibility of the municipal corporations/ councils to take trash, crud, dark dirt or any noxious or violative affair. 17 The Pollution Boards and its officers have a basic responsibility under the Environment ( Protection ) Act, 1986 to halt self-appointed motion and/or disposal of the waste. They are besides empowered to take action against mistaking industries and individuals. In Virendar Gaur v. State of Haryana and in many other instances, the Supreme Court has clip and once more declared that right to life under Article 21 encompasses right to populate with human self-respect, quality of life, and nice environment. Therefore, pollution free environment and proper cathartic status in metropoliss and towns, without which life can non be enjoyed, is a built-in case of right to life.A Landmark pillowcaseThe Supreme Court of India in Dr. B.L. Wadehra v. Union of India 18 , decidedly dictum that the resident of Delhi have a statutory right to populate in a clean metropolis. Therefore, Municipal Corporation of Delhi ( MCD ) and New Delhi Municipal Council ( NMCD ) are under a statutory duty to scavenge and clean the metropolis and it is compulsory for these governments to pull off up and dispose of the garbage/waste generated from assorted bloodlines in the metropolis. It was further observed that non-availability O financess lack or inefficiency of the staff, inadequacy of machinery etc. can non be pleaded as land for non-performance of their statutory duties. 2.7 The new Plastic Waste ( Management and Handling ) Rules 2011New regulations in India have banned the usage of fictile sachets for stash away awaying and selling nutrient and baccy merchandises, and both recycled and compostable bags used for transporting groceries have besides been banned. The new Plastic Waste ( Management and Handling ) Rules 2011 have non wholly banned recycled plastic bags, but in add-on to their limitations on transporting nutrient points, they must conform to a figure of other regulati ons laid down by the Bureau of Indian Standards, one of which provinces The plastic carrying bags shall either be sinlessness or merely with those pigments and colourants which are in conformance with the saloon prescribed by the Bureau of Indian Standards . Bags should besides be no less than 40 micrometers in thickness, duplicate the thickness required under old regulations. Officials hope the new regulations will accomplish thickness uniformity throughout the state. 19 Chapter 3 SuggestionsIn such instances one has to follow cradle to grave solutions from coevals to concluding disposal of the wastes. This is particularly indispensable with the waste including toxic and risky wastes. To incorporate and command the job, there must be awareness plan to cut down solid waste, to recycle the things if practical and to recycle the wastes like paper waste. Therefore, it deals attitudinal change amongst the people before we venture to gripe up the bing Torahs and implement them eff icaciously and efficientlyRecycle the wastes to retrieve energy and stuff. complexify risky waste from other beginning stuff for efficient handling.Incinerate or otherwise convert risky wastes to non-hazardous wastes. To set up recycling of stuff, some motive be given.Efficient Torahs entirely can non work out the job, unless we have efficient mechanism to implement, will of the authorities to implement and attitudinal revisal among the multitudes is neededMultiplicity of Torahs and countless governments can non get the better of such job unless people are made certain of the inauspicious effects of this job and they stand up by Torahs with an purpose to safeguard the bring in and future coevals.Municipal corporation is a local authorization within the meaning of State under Article 12 of the Constitution and it is Statutory responsibility to roll up, shop, conveyance, procedure and dispose of the municipal dirty wastes and see the wellness & A hygienics of the populace is ma intained.Report anyone who actively throw away waste to the appropriate governments.Reduce, re-use and recycle.Glass Bottles or jars can be reused or taken to a bottle bank for recycling. gold-bearing elements Used aluminium and steel tins can be collected as bit and smelted for re-use. Avoid batteries. They contain a stove of metals but are hard to recycle.Plastics more drink bottles are made from a plastic called PET, which can be re-used.vegetable Waste A pail with a lid makes a good container for vegetable waste that can be on a regular basis added to the compost pile for usage in the garden.Attempts at single degrees should be promoted.Peoples should organize the usage of hive awaying waste at beginning in their ain houses and sedimentation such waste into the municipal system merely. 20 DecisionA The indifferent(p) political attitude towards the disposal of waste is a job that has led to troubles in carrying out of The Municipal Solid Waste ( Management & A Handling ) Rules, 2000 as it has led to ignorance towards uncollected domestic waste. The waste bear upon and disposal installation has to be set up by the Municipal permit on their ain or through the operator of installation, every bit good as they have to follow the criterions as specified under the Rules of 2000.The improper and apathetic attitude towards direction of Domestic Solid Waste has inauspicious effects on the society every bit good as environment. It is one of the biggest beginning of environment pollution. Land is polluted with the waste dumped upon it, makes the dirt infertile. contaminates the H2O organic structures, affect the aquatic life which through nutrient concatenation reaches the human being every bit good as in organic compounds. Due to the discarded plastics carry bags and garner waste there is drain asphyxiate offing which leads to stagnant H2O and becomes engendering land for mosquitoes and insects. All this happens because there is no proper direction and a ggregation of solid waste which finally causes sedate menace to the human existences and animate beings life. With the turning population the gigantic waste is being generated twenty-four hours by twenty-four hours. There is broad usage of plastics, advanced engineering and other ally things. This resulted in different features of waste which became multiform job for direction of Domestic Waste and disposal techniques. It is imperative that pressing stairss in this way should be taken up non for treatment but as unmatched pattern. The authorities and societal organisations should work hand-in-hand, round the clock and guarantee that the delicate balance in nature is non destroyed. Awareness programmes and struggle of the layperson in the cleansing procedure are really of import. Every individual should be made responsible for the harm to the Earth. Rather than speaking tall on the unfairness being done to earth, and poems being written on the earnestness of the issue, people all over the universe should fall in custodies for the interest of the Earth. Global exercise and action is needed.

The poem opens with an oblation Glory be to God for mottle functions. In the next five lines, Hopkins elaborates with examples of what things he means to embarrass under this rubric of dappled. He includes the mottled gaberdine and blue colors of the sky, the brinded (brindled or streaked) inter of a cow, and the patches of contrasting color on a trout. The chestnuts mutilateer a slightly more complicated image When they fall they open to reveal the substantial interior normally concealed by the effortful shell they be comp atomic number 18d to the coals in a fire, bleak on the outside and glowing within. The wings of finches are multicolo rosy, as is a patchwork of farmland in which sections look different according to whether they are place and green, fallow, or freshly plowed. The final example is of the trades and activities of man, with their spicy diversity of materials and equipment. Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls finches wings And here come ii more hyphenated words, along with two more examples of dappled things. The first example is Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls. This is probably the trickiest image in the poem, partly because were non nearly as beaten(prenominal) with chestnuts as 19th-century English people would have been. Chestnut-falls is not too hard to imagine. It refers to chestnuts that have move off the chestnut tree. This hyphenated word points to the specific chestnuts that have fallen from the tree. But Fresh-firecoal requires some background on nuts, a field we at Shmoop like to call nut-ology. When they are on a tree, chestnuts are covered by a spiky, light-green covering, but the nuts themselves are reddish-brown. When the nuts fall, they are fresh from the tree. Because of the contrast of red nuts with their outer covering, they look like the animated of coals inside a fire.To add another shape to this chestnut conundrum, people withal like to organise these delectable nuts over fire. When the nuts make it hot , they open up to reveal their meat, inside. These opened chestnuts also look like embers. Were almost certain you at once know more than you ever wanted to around chestnuts. Fortunately, the second example of a dappled thing in this line is much easier. Finches are menial birds with streaks and spots. The speaker focuses only on the finches wings a sign of his great attention to detail.

These traits let in not world as brawny as the men and fleeing or not staying to put up a fight at one time confronted. Women stereotypically were seen as cosmos grand of riskiness once it has been provoked. The design of Grendels vex in the metrical composition expects to be quite different from the federal agency that the monsters of Grendel and the cream of tartar play. She seems to be a symbol of the blood feuds and displays an unwillingness to act as the peace-pledge, which was the normal female design after an injustice. In her canvas Jane adventure states As a erroneous pose and queen she perverts a procedure more consequential socially and symbolically than that of Grendel (p. 167). The abandoned flummox or the womanish side of Grendels bewilder comes out in her pettishness and her guts of passing play at the putting to death of her son. plainly Grendels finds actions are not veritable by the people of this time, as a contribute there is a conflict betwixt her actions and her purpose. bump writes about how the poet wishes to nidus this particular eversion of the Anglo-Saxon archetype of women as both preposterous and virile (p. 155). As Grendels fuck off changes roles between go and requital quester through the story one great power esteem that the poet is against women from acting in the same manor as Grendels set about. By making Grendels contract womanly but similarly mesomorphic and merciless she is and then referred to as a submerge affaire from hell, the tarn-hag in all her terrible strength (1518-1519) and hell-dam(1292). Grendels overprotect seems to be desiring avenge over peace and her coevals viewed this as horrible, since women are the symbols of peace, as explained by Chance. The essay compose by Jane Chance looks at the women and the roles that they play in that time compass point and then compare their demeanour to Grendels mothers ever changing role as mother to retaliation seeker. It also evaluates the function that Grendels mother occupies in the poem. Grendels mother in the poem seems to have the roughly gainsay role in the poem itself. She does not seem to pair with the view of women in the time period that the poem was written. By exploring the differences of behavior in Beowulf one can see that Grendels mother is an measurable access to the poem.
